Today’s Thought for the Day is a poem which can be sung to “In the bleak midwinter” if you allow a little flexibility. I hope you enjoy it!
Fulfilled creations longing,
promises of old,
what the ancients wrote
and the prophets had foretold,
that God will heal our sorrow,
turn our pain to joy,
when Mary sees the Christ-child
and holds her little boy.
A little while of waiting,
another moment now,
and Christ will be among us
to whom the angels bow.
His peace will never leave us.
Our joy will be complete.
When Mary sees the Christ-child
and tickles tiny feet.
The foggy hills are waiting,
the moon and every tree,
for what seems now so near and
was always meant to be:
The glorious peace of heaven
declared to high and low,
the “Glory in the highest”
on earth for all to know.
