From the Minister

Thought for the Day Holy Saturday 11th April

As I have led services over the years I have followed the theme and emotions of Holy week.
I have shouted hosannas with the crowds on Palm Sunday.
I have shared in a communion meal on Maundy Thursday, remembering the faults of the disciples and coming humbly to the table knowing that I share many of those faults.
I have led meditations on Good Friday, remembering the cruelty and horror of the cross.
On Holy Saturday I have shared with that sense of loss the disciples felt in their first day of grief for their friend and leader.
But this year, free from the pressure of preparing for and leading services, in the strange lock down where I canít share with others in the horror and rejoicing of the Easter story, where in isolation I have had to meditate on the story by myself, I find on Saturday not a sense of grief and loss, but a sense of the closeness of Jesus and a renewed awe in the greatness of his love for me.
